Te Ngahere provides specialist services in the detection, management, and eradication of aquatic pest plants across Tāmaki Makaurau. Edwin is a Registered Chemical Applicator with an Aquatic Strand and has extensive experience in both surveillance and control, our team works safely and effectively in challenging aquatic habitats.

It is a privilege to support the dedicated community of volunteers, mana whenua, and conservation professionals working to safeguard these taonga. The haunting call of the kōkako, once nearly lost from this region, is now a reminder of what’s possible when people commit to long-term environmental care.

Over the last fifteen years Te Ngahere has setup volunteer pest lines in over 50 Auckland reserves/sites for Auckland City Council (and subsequently Auckland Council).

Te Ngahere has worked closely with the community group “From the Deck” and Auckland Council to develop a community-led restoration plan to help direct restoration efforts on private properties surrounding Middleton Stream (a tributary in the Newmarket Stream catchment) over a 5 year period.

Te Ngahere has been involved with these  Wai Ora/Healthy Waters Ōrākei Local Board projects since 2015 (Madills Farm Recreational Reserve and 2016 (Waiata Reserve).

Browns Island, Motokorea is a recent addition to Auckland Council’s Regional Park list. It is a small island in the Hauraki Gulf and one of the best preserved volcanoes within the Auckland volcanic field. Due to a rich history of land use, from cultivation and pa sites (defensive settlements) to farming, little native bush remains except along the northern-eastern cliffs.
